Passed away on March 3, 2017, in his 94th year, with family at his side. Predeceased by his son Larry (Megan), brother Eric, father Maurice and mother Hilda. Survived by wife Angeline, daughter Pat (Rod), sons Richard (Cindy) and Rob (Melanie), and grandchildren Kate, Madeline and Rhys.


Clive was born in Hamilton in 1925 during a blistering snow storm. He followed his brother Eric’s footsteps and volunteered for the Royal Canadian Navy in 1944, progressing to Stoker 1st class aboard H.M.C.S Joliette. He had many stories from the war, especially splicing the main brace (plus) in Halifax on VJ day. On discharge, he joined the Treasury Department at the City of Hamilton, where he worked for 39 years, retiring at age 60.


Clive was a proud and lifetime member of Her Majesty’s Army and Navy Club, as well as the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 163, where he loved his Friday “fish and chips”. He was a joyful member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church (Mount Hope), and appreciated all their thoughts and prayers during some difficult times.


Clive was a true family man, taking his brood across Canada on various camping trips. He enjoyed square dancing for 30 years. He was an avid Bridge and Euchre player. For many years after retirement Clive and Angeline lived the snowbird life and hosted their children for Winter breaks in Panama City Beach, Florida.

Service Thursday, March 8, at 1:30 pm, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 163 (435 Limeridge Rd. E, Hamilton). Celebration of life follows immediately after.
