April 23, 1930 - November 10, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce that our dearest, beloved mother, Iris, 93 years, passed away at the Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton. Mam was predeceased by her devoted and loving husband of 64 years, Victor, her daughter-in-law Judy, and grandson Jeffery. She is survived by her children Glyn (Margaret) of North Vancouver BC, Derrick of Grimsby, Jayne (Larry Johns) of Woodstock and David (Tamara) of Caledonia and her sister Pat Dennett (Alan) of Southampton, UK. She will be fondly remembered by her eight grandchildren, Kimberly, Gary, Jennifer, Scott, Trevor, James, Rhys, and Bryn and ten great-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren. Mam married Dad in 1949, and they later emigrated to Canada from Pontypridd, South Wales along with her family in August of 1963. They operated a number of motel businesses together in Florida and later had small food businesses in and around Hamilton. Mam truly loved Canada, "It's the best country to live in," and she especially loved watching her beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. We feel blessed that Mom lived to 93 years of age and that she was able to stay in her own apartment, living independently as she wished. Mam had many fond memories of her life growing up in the Rhondda Valleys. They say that "you can take the girl out of the valleys, but you can't take the valleys out of the girl." Mam will be buried with her beloved husband, Victor, joining one another again. A celebration of Iris's life will be held at M. A. Clark & Sons Funeral Home, 567 Upper Wellington Street, Hamilton, visitation on Wednesday, November 15th 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Service to take place on Thursday, November 16th at 11.00 am. Internment at Mount Hamilton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to be made to the Salvation Army, Mission Services of Hamilton or to a charity of your choice.

Glyn, Derrick, Jayne and Dave. We all go back a long, long way. I remember your Mom and Dad at the Fish and Chip store on Upper James. The legacy lives on through “Mams” four children. Each have made her so proud. May the memories of your “Mams” remain wrapped around your hearts and your minds. “Things” come and go but our memories live on forever. My deepest condolences to you all. Proud to call each of you my friends. Respectfully and sincerely, Mike Cole
