January 25, 1940 - January 21, 2024

Morrison, Vera Ann Jean

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Vera Ann Jean Morrison on January 21st, 2024 just 4 days before her 84th birthday. Born in Brantford, Ontario on Jan 25th, 1940, she was the cherished daughter of the late Robert and Vera (Scott) Morrison, youngest sibling to James (Marie), Doreen, Ian (Helen), and Helen (Russell), and sweetheart to her partner for life, the late Denis Joseph O’Sullivan.

Vera Ann attended Westdale High School in Hamilton, Ontario and started working for Loblaws at age 16 where she later retired after 42 years. It was at Loblaws that she met her beloved, Denis. Together they bought and renovated their home on East 19th Street, which they both lived and loved in until the very end. Vera Ann traveled the world (Australia was her favourite), loved art and crafts, sewing, sunbathing and swimming at the beach, a good game of cards, adopted so many cats and dogs, and was always the life of every party. Vera Ann was adored and will be missed by her Morrison and Sullivan families, nieces and nephews, co-workers, special friends (Mary and Marilyn), and neighbours. There are simply too many people to list that she loved and who loved her.

Vera Ann was beautiful inside and out, warm and kind, stylish, fun and funny, sharp with a steel-trap memory, always up for a good chat, fiercely independent, loyal and so very strong. She lived a long life on her own terms, and she lived well.

Visitation will be held on Saturday January 27th from 2-4pm followed by a funeral service at the M.A. Clark & Sons Funeral Home at 567 Upper Wellington, Hamilton.

A special thank you to the doctors and nurses who cared for her during her brief time at Jurvinski Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bob Kemp Hospice or Ronald McDonald House in Hamilton, community organizations loved by Vera Ann.

I remember Vera , we always got together on Thursdays at Sackville Hill to play euchre and then a group of us ladies would go out for lunch and then maybe to the casino. Vera was always very great and a lot of fun to be with.
