Lorraine Pyper

October 7, 1929 - November 4, 2024

In the early hours of Monday, November 4, Lorraine Pyper left this world to rejoin with her husband John Pyper and parents, John and Mae Armstrong. Lorraine made the passing in her 96th year, in her usually quiet and dignified manner. Lorraine leaves behind her son David and wife Gail, her daughter Karen and husband Raymond Brown along with three grandsons, Stephen (Elyse) Brown, Graham (Erin) Brown, Michael Brown and step granddaughter, Anne Coleman. Lorraine also leaves behind four great grandchildren, Maeve Brown, Rowan Brown, Lincoln Brown and Oliver Brown. Lorraine was a resident of St. Peter’s at Chedoke for the past 7 years and has been under their constant care. Lorraine and John were married in 1950 at Delta United Church and later became members of both Southgate Presbyterian and St. Paul’s Presbyterian churches during her lifetime. Lorraine was a devote Christian, believing strongly in her faith and being active in each church. In her early years she worked at City Chevrolet and Fairweather Clothing. Most of her life was spent at home looking after her family. Lorraine and John both were lovers of Sauble Beach and went there each year for most of their married life. They built their own cottage in 1969 and were active in that community throughout the year as well. Sauble Beach was a special spiritual place for Lorraine and being there provided her with support throughout her life. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Peter’s at Chedoke, especially the staff on Garland Terrace, for their love and care for Lorraine throughout her stay. A visitation will be held on the evening of Friday, November 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at M.A. Clark & Sons Funeral Home at 567 Upper Wellington St., Hamilton, Ontario. The funeral service will be held at the same location on Saturday, November 9 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a reception and then interment at White Chapel Cemetery. Donations can be made in Lorraine’s name to Operation Smile or charity of your choice.

I knew Lorraine through our association with South Gate Presbyterian Church. She was a very elegant and always gracious lady. After many years of health struggles she is now at peace. I send my deepest sympathy to all of Lorraine's family.

Mrs. Pyper I am so glad you were our neighbor. I am glad you had the time to listen to me, asking questions and you answering them. I learned during our friendship that you prefer knives handle up in the dishwasher. Your invitations to Church breakfast, the backyard relaxing talks. You are missed and will be missed always

I will miss my dear friend. Lorraine was a gracious host & cherished friend. Lorraine & John always opened their arms, hearts & support when I needed a shoulder to cry on. Movie nights with tea & treats & an open ear & advice. Lunches, dnners & drives to St. Jacob's with Dad & I. Great memories. Rest in Peace my friend...you've earned your wings.

Barb and I always enjoyed our all too infrequent visits with Lorraine since John's passing. I have found memories of numerous Pyper family 'get togethers' over the years. Condolences to David, Karen and all members of the family.
