Leonard Cole

July 25, 1938 - May 19, 2025


Leonard “Len” Cole passed away unexpectedly on May 19, 2025, in Hamilton, Ontario, at the age of 86.

A lifelong resident of Hamilton, Len worked for 38 years as an electrician at Dofasco, where he earned the respect of colleagues and contributed meaningfully to his community. He was a dedicated member of the Oddfellows for over 40 years, supporting local charitable efforts.

Len was predeceased by his wife, Olive (Ollie) Gilliland, and infant daughter, Susan. He is survived by sons Len (Marj) and Ron (Laurie), grandsons Allan (Riley) and Bradley (Jessica), and great-grandsons Coast, Oaks, and Casey. He also leaves behind his brother Howard and is predeceased by siblings George, Eleanor, Thelma, and Lily. His extended family will remember him fondly.

Known for his skill as a handyman and his love of fishing, golf, and travel, Len brought humour and warmth to every gathering. He cherished time with family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 23, 2025. A private interment will follow. Donations in Len’s memory to a charity of your choice are appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the M.A.Clark and Sons Funeral Home

Not many men would put up with some loud college students in his basement playing cards and laughing all night long. Even fewer would chuckle about it in the morning and pull extra steaks from the freezer to barbecue a lunch followed by more laughs. A good guy who I remember to always have a smile on his face. The afterlife environment just improved.

Sincere condolences to sons Len jr., Ron and their families and to Howard, his only remaining brother.
Len was a lifelong friend to Dave.
I met Len and Ollie when Dave and I started dating. We raised our families together and shared a lot of good times in our 65 year friendship. You will be sorely missed Len. RIP 💙

I am sorry to hear of Len's passing. He was a very good man. I knew Len at Dofasco and also in the golf league. I also saw Len on occasion while he was helping with charity activities. We shared the sad experience of having both lost our spouses. Len made a positive difference in this world. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
