Ellen Diane Gregor

December 31, 1969 - December 31, 1969

Ellen Gregor (Ward, née McDonald)
Ellen Gregor, cherished mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 88. Born and raised in the North End of Hamilton, Ontario, Ellen grew up surrounded by the strong community spirit and deep family roots that shaped her resilience and devotion to those she loved.
In Hamilton, she met her first husband, Daniel Ward, and together they built a loving home while raising their children. Their years together were filled with laughter, hard work, and the everyday joys of family life. Ellen and Dan shared a devoted marriage until his passing in 1993 at the age of 58.
Following Dan’s passing, Ellen moved to St. Elizabeth’s Village, where she lived for 24 years. The Village became a place of comfort, companionship, and renewed purpose. While living there, Ellen was introduced to Russell Gregor, a gentle partner who brought warmth and happiness back into her life.
Ellen is survived by her loving children Karen Sinfield & Jim Edworthy, Dan & Cindy Ward, Patricia & Jamie Magill, and Sean Ward. Ellen often said she was blessed to have had two adoring husbands in her lifetime. Through her marriage to Russ, she also formed relationships with his children — Gail & John Spadofora, Wayne & Rose Gregor, and Lyn Gregor.
Ellen took immense pride in her grandchildren — Matthew Sinfield (Elyse), Jessica Tweedle (Kevin), Rachel Sinfield, Alexander Ward (Ana), Benjamin Ward, and Sarah Magill & Emily Magill — each of whom brought her joy, stories to share, and reasons to smile. The true delight of Ellen’s later years was her great grandchildren: Norah, Claire, Luke, Rowan, and Holden.
Ellen is also predeceased by her sister Pat Stevens (Lou) and her brother Gary McDonald (Pat), whom she remembered with deep affection and laughter throughout her life.
Ellen will be remembered for her steady presence, her incredible wit, and her ability to make everyone around her laugh. Her legacy lives on in the family she cared for and the friendships she cherished.
The family wishes to thank Westmount Retirement Village for their care during Ellen’s residency the past 4 years. Heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at St Joseph’s Hospital where Ellen spent the final days of her life.
Cremation has taken place with interment entrusted to M.A. Clark & Sons Funeral Home. A Celebration of Ellen’s Life will occur at a later date. Donations to the Arthritis Society or the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
