Martha van Mourik

June 10, 1929 - March 4, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, who left us peacefully at the remarkable age of 96. A pillar of strength, wisdom, and compassion, she lived a long and fulfilling life, touching the hearts of all who knew her with her warm smile.

Born in the Netherlands in a time of great change, she witnessed nearly a century of history and embraced each chapter with resilience and grace. Mom immigrated to Canada in 1952 following her love of her life Albert van Mourik and they celebrated 70 years of marriage in 2022 just prior to Dad's passing. She was a devoted mother to Jeannette, Al (Cathy), Marion Urquhart (Mike) and Nancy Godwaldt (Ron), a loving grandmother to Jenna (Adam), Mindy (Mike), Mike (Stephanie), Jonathon (Meaghan), Ben and Arianna and to five great-grandchildren. A treasured friend whose kindness, warmth and hospitality will be deeply missed. Her legacy is one of unwavering support, laughter, and unconditional love.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many nurses and PSW's who cared for her in her later years. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Predeceased by four siblings, Lucy, Henk, Alie and Weiger. She will be missed by her sister-in-law Margaret deVries, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at M.A. Clark Funeral Home, 567 Upper Wellington Street in Hamilton on Thursday, March 12th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with light lunch with a celebration of her life at 1:00 p.m. A private family graveside service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to McMaster Hospital NICU as Mom was an avid knitter of preemie caps.

Such a sad day for all of you , please know I’m thinking of you during this time. Your Mom always had the brightest of Smiles !!! And kindness towards myself and my family ! The cottage in Pike Bay is where I met your parents , my Dad and Mom enjoyed great visits there and I always looked forward to summers sleeping in the boathouse ..also the trips to Hamilton to stay a week in the summer where picking beans was necessary but was rewarded with a bus to downtown for back to school shopping or movie . I’m sorry I’m unable to attend in person today but I’ll be there in spirit thinking of all of your family 🙏💕
