Peter Holkema

HOLKEMA, Peter
June 12, 1955 - March 22, 2026
After a long and courageous fight with cancer, Peter Holkema went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on March 22. Loving husband to Grace, cherished father of Melissa and Greg Nagtegaal, Kristie and Mike Zantingh, Kevin (2022) and Jenn Holkema. Beloved Grandpa to Emma-Grace (David), Megan, Nicholas, Hannah, Jacob, Leisha, Asher and Elise. Peter is also a loved son-in-law (Antje Wynia), brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many. Peter faithfully reflected his love for Jesus to all he encountered - on construction sites where he spent many years painting homes, in his service as a deacon and elder, and even in the hospital, whether in waiting rooms, during dialysis treatments, or from his bed as he was cared for by medical staff. A special thank you to his doctors (St. Joseph's Nephrology, Juravinski Cancer) who cared so well for Peter for the last 7 plus years, as well as the compassionate care he received at the Bob Kemp Hospice.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 25, from 2:30 - 4:30 pm and 6:30 - 8:30 pm at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church (61 Mohawk Rd W). Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, March 26, at 11:00 am at Immanuel Christian Church.

Please accept my condolences for the entire Holkema family. I had the pleasure of working with many Holkemas during my tenure at Redeemer University. Peter was a pleasure to work with, and always took pride in his work. I wish you all God's comfort during the difficult time of transition to a life without Peter. May you all enjoy the many happy memories that you have of Peter.

Dear Grace and entire family: My sincerest Christian Condolences to all of you! Pete will surely be missed. Anytime I saw him lately in church he still always had a smile even while in pain.
He was a good and faithful servant and we can say triumphantly “Well done”

I remember with fondness the BBQ’s you always held at your place for our Seniors. A great memory.
Lots of love and encouragement being sent your way! Joanne
