Helen Jarvis

May 12, 1936 - May 9, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Jarvis (nee Padfield) just a few days ahead of her 90th birthday.
Helen was the beloved wife of Norman for 65 years. She is deeply missed by her children Kathryn (Steve) and Glenn (Carrie), her treasured grandchildren Alice Caitlin and Victor (Taylor) and great grandchildren Lexi, Kayden and Braelyn. Helen is survived by her adored siblings: twin sister Barbara, her brother Bill (Shirley) and sister Mildred (Al). She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews and their families whom she cherished. She is predeceased by her parents, Tom and Agnes Padfield, her sisters Marion (Ed) Tate and Evelyn Varga, and her daughter Mary Elizabeth.
Born near Mount Forest, ON, Helen moved to Hamilton as a new bride in 1960 where she taught for most of her career, specializing in kindergarten. She was an active member of St. Andrew’s United Church for over 50 years and was involved in many organizations and activities, especially throughout her retirement.
The Jarvis family would like to extend thanks to Dr. J. Martini, the PSWs from CBI and particularly those from Nurse Next Door who kindly and gently cared for Helen during the last several months, allowing her to stay with Norm in the home she loved.
Friends will be received at the M.A.Clark and Sons Funeral Home on Fri May 29th from 1:00 pm till 5:00pm . Funeral Service from St Andrews Untied Church on Sat May 30th at 11:00 am . Interment on June 1st at 11:00 am at Woodland cemetery.
For anyone who wishes, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Society or a charity of your choosing.

Em sat with Helen every Sunday morning when she was little and I took her to church. Helen attracted her with her kind and gentle nature. We are so sorry for your loss and look on those memories with smiles and joy. She will be greatly missed.

Norm and family, I am so sorry for your loss. My sincerest and deepest condolences. Thinking of you and the family during this difficult time. I have some fond memories of Helen at the summer picnics and visits to Hamilton or Bradford. Remember the time when the pigs got out and we all ran from the dinner table and we chased the pigs back to the barn. We laughed so much and had a cold dinner!

Dear Mr. Norm, Kathryn and Glenn,
As you all know, Mrs. Helen (a name she insisted upon once I was deemed a fully-grown adult) has been in my life almost as long as she's been in Kathryn's and Glenn's. She was my other Mom on Fisher Crescent, trying to keep us kids out of too much trouble (and away from her flower beds) and teaching valuable lessons like "two is plenty" (cookies!), a rule that lives on today. I will make some banana-peach jam in her honour and am sending you all my love and thoughts.

Dear Norm, Kathryn and Glenn,
My sincere condolences to you and all the family. I will never forget the welcome and hospitality I received from “Mrs Jarvis” (it’s hard to break the habit of referring to her in this way) over the years—her energy, her cooking, her smile.
With love and prayers,
Dorothy

Dear Norm, I extend my sympathy to the Jarvis and Padfield families . Helen will be greatly missed as beloved wife, mother, grandma great grandmother, sibling, family member and friend. My connection to Helen goes back to Mt Forest days. Warren and I enjoyed many social times with Norm and Helen and with Helen's twin sister Barbara. I am not well enough to come to the funeral home or to the service . With sincere thoughts and prayers of condolence.
